Diversity Committee
Responsibilities:
The Academic Senate Diversity Committee identifies strategies for ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusivity at Cal Poly. The committee informs and makes recommendations to the Academic Senate on these issues, evaluates related university policies and procedures, and collaborates with stakeholders across campus, including the Office of University Diversity and Equity, Academic Affairs, and appropriate student groups.
Charges:
- Review proposals for the faculty Assigned Time for Exceptional Service to Students (ATESS) program. Ongoing
- Interpret and report annually to the Academic Senate on data collated by Office of University Diversity and Inclusion (OUDI) in collaboration with the senate Diversity Committee. Ongoing
- Report on data completeness and monitoring status of and trends in hiring, recruitment (of students, faculty and staff) and retention (of students, faculty and staff). Ongoing
- Report on data collected on the recruitment and retention of Pell Grant and First-Generation students (disaggregate data by race, ethnicity, gender). Ongoing
- Report on data collected on graduation rates disaggregated by demographics and by college/school.
- Report on data tracked as part of Cal Poly’s goal of attaining HIS, MSI and AANPISI status. Ongoing
- Discuss impact of Q2S conversion on Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy and procedure and draft revision plans as needed. Ongoing through conversion
- Review and modify committee procedures and bylaws as needed. Ongoing.
- In collaboration with the BLRP committee, conduct a cost calculation using a net cost calculator for attendance at Cal Poly, especially in regard to access. Ongoing

Membership:
Shall include voting General Faculty representative from each college and Professional Consultative Services. Ex officio non-voting members shall be the Vice President and Chief Officer for Diversity and Inclusion or designee, the Senior Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Planning or designee, the CTLT Inclusive Excellence Specialist or designee. The voting ex officio member shall be an ASI student representative.
