Faculty Affairs Committee

Responsibilities:

The Faculty Affairs Committee shall be the advisory body of the Academic Senate on faculty policy and its administration and procedures. The scope of faculty procedures and policies coming within its purview includes standards and criteria concerning appointment, promotion, tenure, academic freedom, leaves of absence, retention, professional relations and ethics, research, grievance, layoff procedures, and lecturers' rights and responsibilities.

Charges:

  • Update University Faculty Personnel Policies (UFPP) as necessary especially chapters on: sabbatical/DIP leave, ATESS, evaluation of instruction and professional services (including student evaluations), professional development, and service. Ongoing
  • Clean up UFPP to be "term neutral" in anticipation of Q2S. AY 2022-23
  • Update policies on department organization and reorganization for UFPP in collaboration with APP. AY 2022-23
  • Review and modify committee procedures and bylaws as needed. Ongoing

Membership:

Shall include voting General Faculty representative from each college and Professional Consultative Services. The Academic Senate Chair is an ex officio, nonvoting member. Ex officio members of the Faculty Affairs Committee shall be the Associate Vice President for Academic Personnel or designee and an ASI representative.
