Overview

Responsibilities:

The Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities Committee makes recommendations on University policies and procedures regarding scholarship. The committee also provides advice and guidance regarding scholarship to Kennedy Library, Information Technology Services (ITS), Cal Poly Technology Park, University committees and campus research centers and institutes.

Membership:

Shall include voting General Faculty representative from each college and Professional Consultative Services. The Academic Senate Chair is an ex officio, nonvoting member. Ex officio members shall be the Dean of Research or designee and an ASI representative.

AY 2024-2025 Charges and Membership

 

Charges:

  • Under the auspices of fostering a campus environment where faculty can effectively pursue research and professional development, develop a framework for the implementation of the Teacher-Scholar model, as defined in AS-725-11, in a semester system in collaboration with the Provost, the Q2S steering committee, and other stakeholders. Ongoing through conversion.
  • Discuss the impact of the quarter-to-semester conversion on RSCA policy and procedures and draft revision plans as needed. Ongoing through conversion.
  • Review the impact of the Year-Round Operations calendar and administrative structure on RSCA bylaws, policy, and procedures and draft revisions as needed. Ongoing through implementation.
  • Review the impact of the possible integration with Cal Maritime on RSCA policy and procedures and draft revision plans as needed, in collaboration with Cal Maritime faculty, should integration be approved. If approved, ongoing through integration.
  • Review and modify committee procedures and bylaws as needed. Ongoing.
