Overview

Responsibilities

The Curriculum Committee evaluates curriculum proposals from departments and colleges before making recommendations to the Academic Senate. In addition, the committee makes recommendations to the Senate on University requirements for graduation, general education, learning objectives, and cultural pluralism; provides library oversight as it relates to curriculum; and addresses any other curriculum-related matter referred to it by the Senate, Senate Chair, or Executive Committee. The chair of the Curriculum Committee shall be responsible for coordination of curriculum review with the Office of the Registrar.

    Membership

    College representatives shall be either the current chair or a current member of their college curriculum committee. The Professional Consultative Services representative shall be an academic advisor from one of the colleges. Ex officio members shall be the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Planning (APP) or designee, the Director of Graduate Education or designee, the Vice Provost for Information Services/Chief Information Officer or designee, the Dean of LIbrary Services or designee, a representative from the Office of the Registrar, and an ASI representative.

    • Begin review of Cal Poly, Solano Campus curriculum for integration into a unified Curriculum Catalog for AY 2028. Ongoing.
    • Develop coherent policy on minors with regard but not limited to size of minors and overlap between majors/minors and minors/minors. Submit resolution for Senate consideration. AY 2025-26.
    • Discuss and revise curriculum policy related to zero-unit courses, special topic course naming standards, and experiential course unit limits, if applicable. AY 2025-26.
    • Review and modify committee procedures and bylaws to include representation from the Cal Poly, Solano Campus and reflect the University’s conversion to semesters (as needed). AY 2025-26.
    • Revise ASCC policies, procedures, and role for curriculum review. Ongoing.
    • Discuss and review the impact of Year-Round Operations calendar and administrative structure on ASCC bylaws, policies, Solano academic calendar considerations, and procedures, and draft revisions as needed for possible YRO start in 2028. Ongoing through conversion.
