USCP Review Committee
Responsibilities:
The committee evaluates the United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP) component of new and existing courses before making recommendations to the General Education Governance Board, when a course is a general education course, and the Academic Senate Curriculum Committee. In addition, the committee periodically performs curricular review and evaluation of USCP courses and, when appropriate, works with the Academic Senate Curriculum Committee to review and update USCP learning outcomes and course requirements (as indicated in Academic Senate Bylaws I.2.(b)).
Charges:
- Review courses proposed for USCP certification. Ongoing.
- Work with the registrar’s office to update the instructions in the curriculum management system to review courses proposed for USCP. Ongoing.
- In collaboration with Academic Programs, explore a program-review type examination of courses meeting USCP educational objectives and criteria on a periodic basis. AY 2024-25
- Review the impact of the proposed Year-Round Operations calendar and administrative structure on USCP bylaws, policy, and procedures and draft revisions as necessary. Ongoing through implementation.
- Discuss and review the impact of the possible integration with the Cal Maritime campus. In collaboration with Cal Maritime faculty, review courses offered at Cal Maritime that meet USCP requirements. If approved, ongoing through integration.
- Review and modify committee procedures and bylaws as needed. Ongoing.
- Communicate to colleges and departments about guidelines for USCP recertification. As needed.

The Chair of the Academic Senate Curriculum Committee, a faculty member from the Ethnic Studies Department, a faculty member from the Women, Gender & Queer Studies Department, and two at-large faculty members with USCP teaching experience and/or teaching experience related to diversity issues as voting members. Ex Officio non-voting members shall be the Vice President and Chief Officer for Diversity and Inclusion or designee, the CTLT Inclusive Excellence Specialist or designee, and an ASI student representative
